SIGH... I'm looking at a busy busy scary weekend...

I'll be on leave this friday, as mother-in-law will be admitted to SJMC and Tecky (hubby) and I will be sending her there and accompanying her, cuz she is kinda afraid of the surgery... She has fibroid in her uterus, and the operation is to remove the whole system, ovaries and all... She has to be in the hospital for a good 5 days, after the near 2 hours operation...
(That's why have to miss a birthday party this saturday for you-know-who... Sorry yeah... )

As she don't have any daughters, and only one daughter-in-law for now, I am feeling the responsibility to take care of her... I know since no one is going to be around that could stay the night with her and that she was hoping someone will after hearing from grandma about the need to have a person with her, being the DIL I know I should, cuz she got no daughter also mar... But but but... I VERY SCARED OF HOSPITALS LAR!!!! When gave birth to Rachel, the whole night I cannot sleep and kept waking up, and I have to admit, at one point I was paranoid until I cried. I'm damn scared of hospitals at night lar... AIYOH!!! How leh? :(

Anyway, I was thinking of making porridge for her after the operation, any suggestion on what is good for after operation patients??

Updated:
Eee... updated due to Timo's comment, no lar, it's not sexist... Just that her insurance only allowed shared rooms, and that said, men cannot stay the night mar...
As for the why I'm afraid of hospitals, I don't know, maybe, but but, it's just an automatic fear that creeps up and I don't know why... I'm just SCARED... maybe it reminds me of all the bad incidents I have with hospitals as Tecky puts it, maybe the ghost stories we hear or we see since young, maybe, maybe, maybe, I don't know.... Is there such thing as hospitaphobia????

I wanted to do this on the day Rachel reached her 6 months old milestone, but I was too busy to come up with the selection... haha... So here goes, backdated a bit...

I'm sure every parents sees this, so yeah, I'm stating the obvious... Rachel has changed SO SO much since the first time I laid eye on her... This is evident from the whooping 3136 photos that I took of Rachel for this 6 months (I have at least a photo of her a day)... We also have about 500 photos printed out on hardcopy, arranged in 3 photo albums!? (this is more than my wedding photo even... hahaha)... So here goes, a summary of Rachel, for this pass 6 months.... :D

What are your views on PayPerPost (PPP)?

I have got myself registered and my blog approved, inspired by immomsdaughter, hehehe... But until now, I am still debating between to blog or not to blog for them... I did put up one the other day, as a trial, but then after a while, my heart still feels that I'm not decided and I don't know if I should... So I removed it... :D

What do you think?

Updated:
To answer VC Dan's comment on what's making me uncertain...

I feel that it's a little unethical to have my friends read about a post because I want to get paid from it, not because it's coming from my heart, that it's something I am living through or something I'm passionate about...

Most friends visit this blog to know updates on my life, updates on Rachel and every small matters that happens around me that I think of... I fear that when I put in post for PPP (yeah, you might argue that it might still be related with my life in the sense I want more money, and who doesn't, and it's an easy way to earn money too), I might turn my friends away, and also, it defeits the purpose of this blog, which is to mark on things that I want to remember of...

I guess writing all this reasons out right, I really shouldn't post for PPP right? Other than the fact that IT'S A VERY EASY WAY TO EARN... Everytime I see another blogger blogs about PPP opportunity, and I still read about it and feeling that everything is OK, I felt the urge again that if I can accept them blogging for PPP, why can't I accept myself blogging for PPP????? *slap forehead* hahaha...

Nadia asked for Rachel's photo today afternoon, and I sent her a few which I think is clear... This was what she came back with after a while!! Pretty isn't it?

Hope you can see the words that she put in, it's the lyrics of the kid song that goes "Hush lil baby, don't say a word, papa gonna buy you a mockingbird, if that mockingbird don't sing, ........"

Ain't her creative?? She said as soon as she say the pic, the song came to her... I wouldn't have thought of putting in the song into that picture to scrap, if I was doing it... She gave the picture I took more meaning, it was just a picture I snap of Rachel while she was fussing, but Nadia's scrapping gave it so much more credit... I LIKE!! :D

Can check out all her other creative scrappings for Irfan (her CUTEY PIE son)... :D

As requested by Annie, here's a family photo, taken last month... I guess not much introduction required eh? haha... That's me, little Rachel and hubby (affectionately referred to as Tecky from this post onwards)... So if you do happen to bump into us in the future, don't run away yeah... :D

Yesterday evening, we gave Rachel something new again... This time around, it's PAPAYA!!!

Looking at the photo on the left, does look yucky yeah... I just scrap the flesh off, and mash it up with spoon... :D

SHE LOVES IT!! Must be because it's really sweet and juicy... :D
I'm glad Rachel loves fruits, it seems that any fruits we gave her (apple, banana, papaya) thus far, she'll whallop the whole thing, and then wait for more... :D

Oh, I have to add, she did her big business (poop lar) yesterday morning (normally once a day, or two), but about 30 minutes or so after the papaya, she poop again, A LOT somemore I tell you... But no, it's not diarrhea, just softer lor...

This coming Christmas weekend, we'll be going to Penang for a friend's wedding... We'll be bringing Rachel along, and that'll be her first wedding dinner attended... We'll be in Penang from 23rd Dec to 25th Dec... This time around, no grandparents that will be afraid of Rachel's crying, so I'm hoping that things will be easier... *crossing fingers*

Before having Rachel, I'll always be having a mental picture of what I'll be wearing for a wedding dinner, but this time around, it's so different... It's ONE MONTH away, but I have already started to think of what I'm going to let Rachel wear, I even bought a lacey socks to go with her headband, and hunting for suitable dress!! Now, she's turning into my barbie doll (what Nadia was saying if she has a daughter) already...

Again, I realised she has not only became the center of al our attention, but she is like my LIFE now... Everything I do, everything I say, everything that is around me, is not circling around her... Hubby and I were supposed to go change the EPF benefitiary, but after much procratination, now still haven't change, so have to go change to include Rachel! hahaha... Why ar? Cuz scared lar... Must make sure protect her future mar...

Does this happen to all new parents, or am I being over protective and over worried??!! *roll eyes*

Rachel received another gift yesterday, my colleague (Alice) and her hubby got her a dress... It's a gift from the kaima (Godmom)!! haha... Well, no lar, no actual 'shueng kai' ceremony (those prayers and rituals), just call for fun kind lor... :D
The photo shows us trying the dress on for her after work yesterday... Fits quite well eh? haha... :D

On another note, we gave her half a banana (pisang emas) yesterday too... I mashed it up and gave it to her... I was directed by my aunt (Rachel's paed) to add some milk to it, cuz she was afraid that Rachel is not used to the taste (something new mar), so the milk will give her the taste she knows, but I did not (naughty mother eh)... Rachel ate all of it up... She was a bit slow though, I suspect it's the baby chair, cuz she was banging and hitting it, looking left and right, having a blast... I think she's as greedy when it comes to food, as her mommy is... hahaha... She's already starting to swallow better, and creating less of a mess compared to a week ago... I'm still deciding when to start daily porridge... *scratch head*

I receive so many comments about wanting to pinch Rachel, so what this naughty mommy did was to pinch her on behalf of all, while snapping a photo and now there, uploaded for all to see... hehehe.... SO chubby right?! AIYOH... Don't lar scold me, I didn't really pinch lar, just a little affectionate pressure on her cheek... :D

Rachel picked up a new habit due to her swollen gum... When she is not in a bad mood, she'll bite on the teat, and pull it (kinda like rubbing it) against her gum... Sometimes even does when she had enough of her milk, most of the time, causing her whole face to be wet with water droplets from the teat... I can't wait for her teeth to come out... Imagining how it would be... I was so excited when I saw the photo of Jayden's sprouting tooth posted by Sasha the other day... hehehe

Monday, November 20, 2006

I have SO many things to blog about, but so little time, that I don't even know where to start... haha... So I guess this blog is going to have bits and pieces of things, with my mind jumping in and out... :|

Firstly, most importantly, Rachel is confirm teething!! :D
White bumps appeared on her lower gum on Thursday (16 November 2006). She's starting to rub her toys across her gum, and fussing a lot more... I'm not sure if the latter is related, but I sure hope the fussing and manja-ing decreases when her gum feels better...

Secondly, Rachel can now roll over all the way (she rolls from back to tummy towards her right side, then from tummy to her back again, also to right side)!! I first saw her doing this on 12 November 2006 (last 2 Sunday), but because the bed wasn't leveled, I tot it was just gravity and the slanting which helped her, so I dismissed it as coincident, but she did it on a leveled mattress on the floor again one of the weekday (if I remember correctly, it should be Wednesday 15 November), and again yesterday 19 November 2006! I'm very happy, I did not miss this!! Hehe... In fact, even the maid-babysitter didn't know about it, until I announce it to everyone yesterday... However, little Rachel is still VERY lazy, she won't even turn to her tummy much, so chances of seeing her turn all the way is pretty slim... She likes to lay there and play, or demand to stand more nowadays.... That brings me to the 3rd point, she can stand unsupported for a while now... We help her hold onto something, either the bar of her playpen, or daddy's legs, and she can stand for a while...

On Saturday (18 Nov), my god-mum ('adopted' kind of lar) came down from Batu Pahat again, and this time around, with 10 (out of 19, yeah, she has NINETEEN grandkids, eldest around 13, and youngest being few months old... she'll have 20 if Rachel is included as her god-granddaughter, and Rachel's the youngest if so) of her grandkids (my nieces and nephews, in the age range of 1-12)!! Trust me, it was a total chaos, and a big headache... This is the first time Rachel in amongst her generation, as she's the eldest grandkid in both hubby and my side of the families, she only have cousins from Batu Pahat! They were SO noisy that she didn't sleep at all the whole day, until they left in the evening!! *phew*
Here's a photo for the album... The first time Rachel is amongst her cousins...
p/s: The maid near the pillar didn't want to move out of the photo although we asked her to, so no choice, have to take her together in it! *roll eyes*

Lastly, we bought Rachel a baby chair yesterday! hehe... We were initially looking for a high chair, but when we saw this, we fell in love with it!! It's from Fisher-Price... Yeah, a little pricey, we paid RM169 for it, but looking at how excited and comfortable Rachel was in it, it's totally worth the money... It can be strapped onto our chair, so she can eat at the table with us (there's an adjustable height leg to it, 3 levels), or it can be lowered (for safety reasons) and be put on the floor... I LOVE IT! I guess I was more excited with it than Rachel was!! Oh, I forgot to mention, there's a fitting dish plate with a cup holder that can be fit onto the tray, and a cover for it too... It's really really nice!! Oh, I think it helps train her with her sitting too, cuz with this, she won't be leaning in front... Too bad it's only for children up to 20kg... But we'll think about that when she reaches 20kg or when she couldn't fit into this now... :D
That's all folks! :D

Rachel has a new found habit lately... Maybe it was me that started it, hehehe...

She likes to stuff her hanky into her mouth, bite on it with her gum, and pull the hanky out... Of course she doesn't do it smoothly, sometimes gets SO frustrated cuz the hanky wouldn't fit into her mouth, and sometimes gives up and stuff her fist in instead...

When we do it for her instead, she'll bite and as we pull, you can see a smiling curve appearing on her face, and then as the hanky falls off her bite, she'll giggle and laugh.... HaHaHa... Of course with all this said, it has to be done when she's in a good mood too... ;P

I wonder how long this 'habit' will last...

What is the thing you hate most about work?

For me, it's office politics... IT SUCKS!! (hasn't been a lot of negativity in this blog for a while, but now it's back! hahaha)

I hate sucking up to bosses, and I despise people that does... How could they defy themselves by nodding to something that they don't even agree of, just because the boss says it... I see how 'fruitful' this act is, but is it really worth 'selling' your own self?? Sometimes of course we can't do much about it if the bosses are stubborn such that they don't admit to their wrongs, but these people always just sucked up to bosses' ideas...

Most of the time, you step all over other people to suck up on those above you, not realising that one day, the stepping stones that you used, might turn up to be one that you have to suck up on! How come people never thought of how things would be when the table is turned around??
I guess part of me is just angry when thinking about it, but I don't really want to figure it out, because I don't really want to be in any end of this sucking up game...

A note to Rachel : Dear Rachel, DO NOT EVER turn out to be at the sucking end of the game eh? Stay clear of work politics, and succeed with your own capabilities instead of succeeding by being such a sucker! Learn to dodge though, do be stepped on by all this 'work politician'! :D

p/s: To Michelle's comment, I'm not writing this because I'm facing it or anything in this current office, but just a thought that came across from hearing from friend today... Sorry for misleading... I must postscript, else if my HR finds out, I will be questioned eh? HAHAHA...

Remember my post about how chaotic trying to give Rachel semi-solid food was?? We have tried Milan's Rusk, and she LOVES it... She had one on Saturday, one whole rusk soften into a smooth cereal like texture. She didn't have enough even after finishing the whole piece, kept crying until we gave her milk... She will have her mouth open in a big 'O' shape towards the spoon or she'll fake a fuss when you remove the spoon! However, she got better on Sunday, not as fussy as the day before, still finished 1 whole piece, kept having her eyes on the bowl and opening her mouth towards the spoon...
Yesterday, I tried something different... Without the bowl and spoon! I only gave her 1/2 a piece though, cuz she finished her milk an hour ago (when I return from work)... I dip the rusk in water, until it's soften, then I slowly put the soften rusk into her mouth... SHE LOVES IT!! She was so so anxious and so excited about it, look at how messy she was! But she looks so darn cute... Below is the video showing her anxious ('kam cheng') self, until can hear her slurping sometimes... (I couldn't upload previously, YouTube was acting up!) :D

OUCH!!!
That was my thought when I think of acupuncture... But I gave it a try yesterday... My cousin sister opened a new shop in Klang (she's from Batu Pahat, Johor)... I wasn't brave enough to snap photos of the needles poked into my shoulder and arms up to the finger... But hmm, not painful lar... hehehe

Oh, she also did a detoxification for me, and it's done by having this small 'cups' (what do you call them ar?) heated up and then sucked on my back... The first part, where she moved it around was very relaxing, it was like a relaxing massage... Then the pressure was increased, and the 'cups' were left there for 5 minutes... It was relaxing, but below photo shows the after effect... hahahaI must admit, I do feel better after the whole 'therapy', but it does look like I was tortured! HaHaHa... It cost me RM20 (actual price was RM50, hehe, she was having some promotion) for the whole near 2 hours session.... I think I'd be going back for more... She also has the slimming therapy, where she uses acupuncture to suppres the appetite (when questioned, she mentioned you will still want to eat, just controlling it), increases the digestive system and metabolism... I think she's charging RM580 for 10 sessions... Attractive... But that will mean more 'torturing' hours... :D

We were at 1U! Rachel's 1st time there... :P
My long overdue Japanese Buffet (promised since I was pregnant) finally came through... We went to Shogun, yeah, Tina (the helper cum babysitter) included... Nothing to shout about, food was just OK, I really wouldn't go back a 2nd time, cuz I don't think it's worth the money... :D
A big headache in Shogun as little Rachel was SO SO SO fussy, crying and kicking, the waiters were crowding near our table, probably waiting for us to shout for help... What I did was made her milk (an hour early), put her in the pram, shove her the bottle, and continue eating... Good thing she already started to hold her own bottle... Bad mommy eh?? hahaha

We also bought this cute headband for Rachel (the one she wearing in the picture) there, yeah, I used 'WE' here, but in actual, I chose, and hubby paid... hahaha... Both the grandmother loved it, VERY MUCH! More than me actually, hahaha... Except the time in Shogun, Rachel was pretty good... She just look around and then dozed off...

On Sunday, we gave Rachel her first solid food... It was a TOTAL disaster! We tried the Nestle Brown Rice Cereal, and I give up! I totally give up!! We did give her a little earlier than her actual feeding time, to make sure she don't get frustrated due to her hunger... But from the looks of it, she wants to chew on the spoon more than she wants to eat, and she was also reaching for the bowl an the spoon to play with it, and it was SO SO messy... Everytime I try to feed her, her hands will come and grab the spoon too... End up, ALL of us (daddy, me and Rachel) all got too annoyed and frustrated, Rachel starting crying and fussing, and we were shouting at each other! *shame shame* At the end of it, Rachel was given her milk... :D
Any advice from anyone??

Solid aside, Rachel is already starting to sit for a short while without support. She is also starting to show signs of laziness (must have gotten that from me), even when she's holding her bottle... I've caught her doing it a few times this weekend, holding the bottle with 2 hands at first, and then resting 1 hand and only using her left hand to hold the bottle... (can see her laziness in the left picture, see her right hand? RESTING!)

*sob* *sob*
I didn't do that on purpose...
I was just driving down the road (behind Subang Parade) after picking hubby up from the station...
I didn't see her coming (I didn't stop to check the gender, but I assume it's a her)...
I accidentally bang into her, head on, there was a loud bang (the sound of hitting something) in front of the car...
She 'crossed the road' without looking (I assume she should have looked) left and right for on coming cars...
I don't know why she was flying so low...
Yes, I bang into a low flying bird, and judging from the impact, I think I killed her... :(
I feel so so bad, but I still do hope she died, cuz the impact was pretty bad, and if she dind't die, she would have a bad internal injury, I wouldn't want her to suffer...

May God bless the soul of the bird I accidentally killed, and may the bird rest in peace...
I feel bad... but I really really really didn't do that on purpose... :(

NOTE: VERY long post ahead... :D

I got a surprise yesterday morning on the way to work. As my old watch has sharp edges around it, I normally remove it before I reach home, to not accidentally hurt Rachel, and only put it on either on my way to work or when I reach office. Yesterday morning, after a reminder and some hints from him about surprises etc, I searched my handbag and found a new watch for my birthday! He took my old one out and replaced it with this without my knowledge... HeHehe... I was a little surprised, as hubby never was a surprise planner, and never any good in it, as I would always be able to see through him...

Dropped hubby off at the LRT station near Amcorp Mall (yeah, hubby takes the LRT to work), and was told he got a meeting at 9am, so ok, I'm not to expect to see him online until he finish his meeting then... Anyway, my colleague (Alice) 'dated' me for lunch in Pyramid, and I agreed not knowing and not suspecting what was coming, until I heard her talking on the phone saying 'Yeah, we are coming up now, meet at the foyer', that I suspected that someone else was coming along, but had no idea who... Once we got to the foyer, I was surprised again cuz hubby was there (in my brother's car)!! Questions like "how come he's in casual clothing?", "isn't he at work?", "how come he's here?" jumped all over my head, I must have had the weirdest, funniest look on me, while he has this satisfied smile on his face!! Yeah, he took leave yesterday, TRICKED me into thinking he was going to work by stopping at the LRT as usual, then took a bus back home to get my brother's car, waste some time, then come online and acted like he was at work, then picked Rachel up to come trick me to lunch, and Alice was in this too! Hubby contacted her and planned all this! So there I was in the morning, thinking that I have had my birthday surprise this year, and he was actually keeping more in his sleeves!!

That was our lunch! We ate in Tony Roma's (Sunway Pyramid). I like the ribs, tender and nice, but couldn't say the same for the chicken (BBQ chicken and buffalo wings)... The blended lemonade was good... Ambience is OK, service was wonderful... On seeing Rachel there, the manager even offered babysitting help, and when politely declined, striked up a conversation about his kid and played with Rachel a little... They even gave us a booth, big enough for 6, so Rachel could have more space! Very thoughtful... I'll definitely revisit, but for the ribs, and not chicken.... :D

In the evening, another surprise was awaiting when Alice got me another slice of cheese cake! Arigato, I ate that with hubby when I arrived home... hehehe... Arigato again Alice...

At night, there was a simple celebration with my family (it's some sort of a tradition in my house, since birth, every year's birthday will be celebrated, with at least a cake and red eggs, so this is pretty much 'expected' and no surprise here)...
Little Rachel was a little fussy, cuz according to hubby, she wasn't willing to sleep the whole day, and the celebration was a little pass her sleeping time too... She did cut the cake with me (hehehe)... It doesn't really feel different, but then this is the first year I'm celebrating my birthday as a mother, hehehe... It really does look like she knows what she's doing with the cake cutting doesn't it? hahaha...

I actually sorta ate 4 cakes (for birthday) this year (as photo below shows). One was when we had a farewell for a good friend that was going China and celebrated an early birthday of us all (4 scorpios together, me being one of them), 2 slices of cake (one from department colleagues, another from Alice), and the cake from my family...

All in all, it was a wonderful day... Actually, hubby never used to be a surprise planner, he never had surprises like this for me before marriage! I'm impressed... hahaha...

"Thank you lougong... MUACKS!!"

Every evening after work, I have a smile to go back to... The tired heart melts when little Rachel see us and smile a big smile... I know many don't want their kids to be 'sticky', but for now, I enjoy her sticking to me, and demanding/asking for me... After a whole day of work, I'd normally want to wash my hands first before carrying her, however, little princess will always cry and fuss... It's as if everytime she see me coming home, she'll look at me, smile, and expect me to carry her, and if I don't, she'll kick a fuss until I do, which she'll then rub her face onto my shoulder, look contented and not want anyone else...

The day before, her granduncle was carrying her when she fussed for me... After carrying her over, when granduncle stretched out his hands to carry her, she'll turn away to the other side, then after a while turn back to look at him, then turn away again when he try to carry her, and then turn back again, (and the cycle continues for dunno how many times)... We experimented, cuz we thought it was coincidence, but she did it everytime, until granduncle got tired!! hahaha....

Evening is the only time we get to interact and play with her, and so far, I'm enjoying it, it's a real energy boost after work... ;) She was all comfortable sitting (supported by daddy's body and the sofa) stretching out towards daddy's handphone the other day when I took this photo... She's so adorable isn't she? haha... At this point, my mum would be staring at me and saying something that goes along "TAK TAU MALU (Thick skin), where got people compliment their own kids?" hahaha.... Well, I think there is, and I won't be ashamed to admit, I am one.... ;)

I was tagged again, by Nadia this time... So here goes... ;D

1. Are you happy/satisfied with your blog, with its content and look? Does your family know about your blog?
So far, I'm happy with it. There's lots more things I want to add in, but can't seem to find the energy and time... haha...
Yes, my family knows about the blog, hubby reads it everyday.

2. Do you feel embarrassed to let your friends know about your blog or you just consider it as a private thing?
No, because I'm proud of the blog and wants to show Rachel off too... ;)
Let more ppl know her development and more people 'sayang' her mar... :D

3. Did blogs cause positive changes in your thoughts?
Yeah, I believe so.

4. Do you only open the blogs of those who comment on your blog or you love to go and discover more by yourself?
I view all that comments in my blog, but I do surf around to read others too.

5.What does visitors counter mean to you? Do you care about putting it in your blog?
It means how many people are interested in things that I wrote. ;)

6. Did you try to imagine your fellow bloggers and give them real pictures?
Sometimes.

7. Admit. Do you think there is a real benefit for blogging?
Yes, of course (else why I write?)
I backup the blog often too, so that in future, Rachel can read it through and it also serves as a 'diary' of Rachel's development and my life and views in life with her...

8. Do you think that bloggers society is isolated from real world or interacts with events?
Nope, definitely not.

9. Does criticism annoy you or do you feel it’s a normal thing?
I'd probably get sad, then think it over, and if the criticism is justifiable, I'll be fine, else I will be disturbed (VERY).

10. Do you fear some political blogs and avoid them?
No, not really. It's just a read.

11. Did you get shocked by the arrest of some bloggers?
Nope.

12. Did you think about what will happen to your blog after you die?
I don't know. I guess it'll just be stagnant, since blogger will not be removing it, last entry would probably be to announce my death and posted by my hubby? hahaha.... I don't know... :D

13. What do you like to hear? What's the song you might like to put a link to in your blog?
Mixture, I listen to all genre... I don't think I would like to link songs to my blog, cuz I sometimes find that irritating, if people don't have the same taste.
