I was curious when I saw this on PPP, like, WHAT is staph infection? It is said that recently some pro football players have been sidelined by it and that millions of others (high school wrestlers, children, and elderly people in long term care facilities) have been hard...

The scientific name of it is actually Staphylococcus aureus, and is a spherical bacterium, frequently living on the skin or in the nose of a healthy person, that can cause a range of illnesses from minor skin infections (such as pimples, boils, and cellulitis) and abscesses, to life-threatening diseases such as pneumonia, meningitis, endocarditis, and others...

The main strain of staph out in the general population is called MRSA (methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus), and staph has high level of resistance to penicillins and some staph bacteris cannot be killed...
